VOICES INTERNATIONAL PRESENTS FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD

During the month of June Voices International offers three performances that promise to take you on a culinary musical voyage with the theme Food, Glorious Food. Inspired by this theme, which has been tempting the group for quite some time, all song selections are linked in some way to food and drink. You’ll enjoy a mélange of musical styles, such as pop, folk, rock, African, calypso, swing, country and traditional, as well as modern. This group, established in 1997, enjoys the status of ASBL and is under the direction of Thomas Raoult.

Voices International brings together avid singers of many nationalities, with 18 nations currently represented. Although English is the predominant singing language, the group also performs selections in several other languages. Sharing a love for choral singing, they rehearse on a weekly basis to develop and refine their diverse repertoires, with the goal of reaching a professional level of musical quality prior to presenting to their audiences.

The proceeds of Voices International’s concerts are donated to children’s charities - both close to home and around the world. Currently its beneficiaries are Amizero, which supports an education centre in Rwanda, and The Smile Train, which organizes cleft palate for thousands of children each year in third-world countries, with each surgery carrying the amazing price tag (due to extensive voluntarism on the part of the medical staffs involved) of US $250 per child.  This means that the €2,500 given by the choral group this year will finance life-changing – and in some cases life-saving – surgery for 13 children. An anonymous and generous benefactor has agreed to match this donation, so that from Voices International’s donation a total of 26 children will be able to enjoy a normal smile for the first time in their lives.

This season’s concerts will be performed in some excellent and diverse venues around Luxembourg:

Saturday 19 June @ 20:00, Luxembourg Philharmonie, Salle de Musique de Chambre, Tickets €16, Students €12

Sunday 20 June @ 17:00, Fête de la Musique, Centre Culturel de Rencontre Neumünster (Luxembourg Grund), Free admission - contributions gratefully accepted for charitable purposes

Sunday 27 June @ 16:00, Centre Culturel de Sandweiler, rue Principale, Tickets €16, Students €12, free admission for children under 8 years of age
